We are a small non-profit organization and we just switched CRM software (Bloomerang). Sidekick partners with Bloomerang and their services came in handy for our fundraiser. Jessie is amazing, she was there every step of the process and on top of things, helping us get adjusted. I have never had such amazing service from any other software company. As a small, but rapidly growing nonprofit with only four office staff including our organization head, we were drowning in data entry. We had volunteers coming in weekly to help us enter donations into eTapestry and we then spent additional time entering that same information into Quickbooks Online. We had donations coming in through our website, as well as checks, cash, and manually keyed-in credit cards. We had two galas, an annual appeal, and more and more educational events like concerts and workshops with ticket sales.
The integration was not always a smooth process but Sidekick made it manageable for us. Complications we encountered during the discovery process encouraged us to rethink how we categorized donations and gently moved us in the direction of standardizing our website, Paypal, Square, and QuickBooks Online. This is something we knew we needed to do and has been a huge side benefit.
The integration has been up and running since February 2020 and now, almost a year later, we are able to see where automation helps and where it falls a little short. It is helpful to no longer spend so much time with manual entry into our two databases (eTapestry and Quickbooks Online). Some of that time has shifted to data quality control and proofreading and correcting typos that come in directly from website entries, as well as necessary manual adjustments and additions. We feel it is more cost effective to make these corrections ourselves rather than try to automate them.
When the pandemic began we also shifted to welcoming thousands of visitors to our garden via small guided tours before reopening with a free timed entry system. Our integration let us easily handle this significant increase in transactions and our workflow was not significantly altered even as we switched to working remotely.
The integration of data from eTapestry to QuickBooks Online has been a revelation, both in time saved and best accounting practices. Sales receipts appear in QuickBooks Online as if by magic and reconciling those transactions is much easier and more accurate.
We have been able to move forward without Sidekick Solutions thanks to the integration guide they created for us. The learning curve we started on in February leveled out quickly and we are now able to handle the minor errors that infrequently arise. There are rules to follow for the integration and we continue to educate ourselves so as to consistently follow these and how to manage any error notifications in Zapier.
And at the end of the day, Sidekick Solutions is still there and available to help us if we need them!
New Partner in our Success!
I contacted Sidekick Solutions with what I thought was an impossible task. As a growing non-profit, we had experimented with several online giving platforms over the years and as a result had hundreds of established monthly subscription payments coming in through PayPal, Anedot and Fundraisup, all of which must be manually imported into Bloomerang CRM and Quickbooks Online (QBO).
 From day one, Sidekick worked hard to understand our needs and develop a plan forward. They documented our existing conditions and a way forward in an easy to understand document, further reinforced with video calls. This effort was complicated with the fact that we utilize hundreds of Bloomerang Funds and QBO classes.
Key components include Zapier and Google Sheets. They helped us establish a set of recurring registers in G-Sheets and if certain conditions are met the transactions pass without intervention into Bloomerang and QBO. Transactions that do not match our recurring registers, such as on-time gifts, push to a G-Sheet Clearinghouse for our review, Fund assignment and approval. Sidekick setup a Zapier interface between Bloomerang and Quickbooks which also passes all check entries made in Bloomerang into Quickbooks Online.
We now have 550 online monthly donations being captured accurately into our CRM and accounting system. This effort greatly reduced our man-hour requirements and affords us more time to thank our donors and fundraise.
I can’t say enough about this Sidekick Solutions. They are now a critical component to our success as a non-profit. I wholeheartedly recommend.

From day one, they took the time to understand our need, were thorough and very clear about the process and worked with us to research, setup, train and make sure we were completely happy and comfortable with the product.
