Find Out When Your Website is Linked to on Reddit

Want to find out every time your website is linked to on Reddit? It turns out Reddit offers an RSS feed for just that. Here's how to find that feed and how to use it to add notifications for Reddit mentions to Slack or almost any other app.

Journalists and communications specialists need to tread carefully with Reddit. The site's community is famously hostile to anything that resembles self-promotion, so posting articles there yourself is a bad idea. But it's also not a great idea to ignore Reddit entirely, because links to your site will pop up there, and that's a great opportunity to (transparently) participate in a conversation.

So you need to know when your site is linked to on Reddit. Here's how you can get notified every time it happens.

Find the Reddit Domain Page and RSS Feed For Your Site

Reddit has a domain page for every website anyone has ever linked to on the site, but it's a little hidden. The trick is to type https://www.reddit.com/domain/ in your address bar, followed by the URL for your website. For example: if you wanted to see every link to Zapier.com, you'd type https://reddit.com/domain/zapier.com. Like this:

A Reddit domain page

This is useful enough, if you're willing to check the page regularly. But it gets better: you can also get an RSS feed for this page by adding .rss to the end of your domain page. For example: https://reddit.com/domain/zapier.com.rssis the RSS feed for Zapier.com links on Reddit.

You can use this RSS feed with any RSS reader, like Feedly. Or you can keep reading to learn how to get notified on Slack, SMS, or any other application.

Get Reddit Notifications In Any App Using Zapier

Not sure what to do with an RSS feed? Don't panic. Zapier is a service that connects applications to each other with custom automations, and our RSS integration allows you to send Google Alerts to thousands of apps.

For example, you could use the RSS feed you found above to get notifications for Reddit mentions in Slack, email, or via a text message. Here are some quick templates to get started:

You will be asked for the RSS feed, which you copied earlier. You will also be asked to set up your Slack account, email address, or phone number. Turn on the Zap and you're done!

If you don't want notifications, and would rather collect mentions on a spreadsheet, Trello board, or notetaking app, you can. Here's a few templates for that:

Log RSS feed updates as new rows in Google Sheets

        • RSS by Zapier logo

Create Evernote notes for new RSS feed items

            • RSS by Zapier logo
            • Evernote logo

A new note will then be created on Evernote for you, named after the item and ready for archival or further notes.

Add OneNote note from new RSS feed item

              • RSS by Zapier logo
