Today, with a sequence of good prompts, endless curiosity, and good testing practices, you too can stand next to the big names and launch your own app—and no, you don't need to know how to write a function.
That's what vibe coding is all about: as coined by Andrej Karpathy, you build an app using natural language, and forget that the code is even there. While the hype is mostly gone—the first generation of builders hit many discouraging snags around performance and security—new and better tools keep hitting the market, showing that the story isn't over yet.
After testing over 50 platforms (up from around 30 last year) and building all kinds of prototypes, I'm sharing my picks for the best vibe coding tools worth your prompts.

What makes the best AI vibe coding tool?
The best AI vibe coding tools are composed of two major ingredients. The AI agent is in charge of taking your prompts, writing plans, creating the code, and making sure that everything is running so you can test and then ship it. Underneath this agent, the platform exposes tools and resources that the agent can call to start services, run code, help you edit, and eventually publish the app out to the world.
These platforms continue evolving: AI model intelligence keeps increasing, taking meaningful but smaller steps when compared with the explosion in the 2023-2025 early era. At the same time, each platform is now offering infrastructure, guardrails, and pre-determined workflows to help builders face the obstacles that come up when creating something with AI.
This new generation of vibe coding tools feels more robust than the last, but it's still not a magic bullet: you'll still have to properly test your code and infrastructure before seriously releasing anything. These platforms will get you 70% there, but you'll still have to develop some technical understanding or hire a developer for the last 30%.
Testing criteria
Here are the criteria I used while testing:
End-to-end app generation. These vibe coding apps can get you from a prompt to a published app without requiring moving them to another platform.
Driven by natural language, not code. English is the programming language. You don't need to code if you don't want to.
Minimal programming skills required. It's definitely helpful if you have some programming experience, but it won't tank you if you don't.
Guardrails. I made sure each vibe coding tool on this list had guardrails for basic security features, like including tight user authentication.
Not dev-grade. There are plenty of coding autocompletes and copilots out there. I decided to consider only the most accessible to beginners and non-technical people.
Over the past two weeks, I vibe coded project management, eCommerce, and game apps, spacing my development cycles due to the daily prompt limitations.
Vibe coding with agents and AI IDEs
If you know what vibe coding is, you've likely heard of tools like Cursor or Claude Code. Here's why I decided not to include these (or their alternatives) in this list:
Agentic coding platforms such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, even though they can be used by non-technical folks, require extra setup when publishing and managing your app. They're also aimed at a technical audience, so most of the features are designed for power, not accessibility.
AI IDEs (integrated development environments) such as Cursor or Devin Desktop integrate AI into the apps that developers use to write code. You're exposed to more code than necessary and you'll still have to push your app out to a server yourself. That being said, tools like this are still useful when you want more granular control over the building process after exporting it from a vibe coding platform. If you find yourself running into too many errors that the AI agent can't fix, booting up an AI IDE and asking lots of questions to the code is a viable semi-technical path to getting everything working.

Ready to build a minimum lovable product? To have a loyal early user base as you expand a small app to a massive platform? Vibe it with Lovable. It sits at the top of my list not because it does one thing extremely well, but rather because it's the most balanced of the entire lineup.
After you send your first prompt, the AI engine sketches out what it's going to implement before it writes the code. As you move forward and prompt more, it explains what it's doing and how it implemented things, which gives a good feeling of control. The editing tools are very easy to use; in the preview window, you toggle selection modes to tell the agent what you want to change, whether that's selecting a visual element directly, drawing on top of the interface, pointing and clicking to leave a comment, or editing text in-line. If you don't know how to describe a change in words, use these tools to guide the agent.
I started with a challenging design task: a landing page for a company that puts satellites into orbit, with a rocket animating into space as you scroll past each feature. Lovable handled it decently from the start: the animation had acceptable quality, and the scrolling felt smooth and predictable. Beyond this complex element, the visuals were engaging and a notch more original than other options I tested. The small template collection backs this up too, offering designs that are distinct enough to use as a starting point.
Lovable is Swedish, built in the same startup scene that produced Klarna and Spotify, and it's currently one of the most profitable of the vibe-coding platforms, with $400M in annual recurring revenue. This means the team has the runway to keep chasing down the reliability and security gaps that still dog this category, which is worth factoring in if you're picking a tool for the long haul rather than a one-off project.

Bolt

Bolt pros:

Bolt shares the throne with Lovable. The user experience is similar, and it's also a great choice if this is your first rodeo. Really, you'll probably want to use both as you learn how to vibe code, so you can rotate the daily token limits and get more action. Bolt's range of integrations makes it more flexible than Lovable.
When writing prompt zero, you don't have to be too thoughtful: look to the prompt enhancement button on the input field to turn your first thoughts into a decent-looking set of product requirements. Hit send, and be ready to wait. In fact, be sure to have something to multitask with for every vibe coding tool.
Bolt is a bit more technical. It installs dependencies, gives you a breakdown of files it creates one by one, and when it runs into errors, it automatically detects them and offers to start debugging them for you. It also has a terminal you can run commands on (access it on the Code tab at the top of the screen).
There's another golden feature hidden here in the Code tab. Once you familiarize yourself with the file structure of your app, use these controls:
Target file makes your prompts modify one or many selected files.
Lock file prevents AI from making changes to it. I highly advise you to remember to lock files as you find functionality that works really well.
You'll also notice that Bolt is slightly faster when tackling prompts of low-to-medium complexity, making the experience feel a bit more agile. Still on the speed topic, when you buy a subscription, there's no daily usage limit: you can burn through your entire usage as fast as you want. This makes it great if you're sprinting through building new features or if you have a taste for hackathons, but could be a drawback if you get stuck on a bug and you forget you're burning tokens.
Bolt price: Free plan includes 1M tokens/month, limited to 150k daily usage. Paid plans from $20/month, with 10M tokens/month. Each prompt you send is about 25k tokens.
Best vibe coding tool for generating production-ready code
v0 by Vercel

v0 pros:
Easy connection to niche AI and backend services
Great match for teams and enterprise settings
v0 cons:
Steep learning curve until you feel ready to control the infrastructure
When you publish your app with any other vibe-coding tool, you don't ever get to see every little step involved in making it available to the world. That's great if you want to launch something simple, but it's a problem if you need safety and stability in the long run. v0 by Vercel, despite adding more setup complexity, is the better path to ensure that your app is resilient from day one.
v0 runs on top of Vercel, a powerful hosting platform founded by one of the people involved in creating Next.js, a popular technology for building software. Everything that the AI agent generates complies with the conventions of that framework; since the platform also operates on those assumptions, there's a lower chance of your app crashing due to environment issues.
Speaking of environment: many first-generation vibe coded apps that had AI features got easily hacked, as the code exposed credentials and access keys, leading to thousands in token costs for builders. But with v0, you can manage all your environment variables in one single place, so they never end up being public. They're only injected as needed when the app runs.
This is also what makes v0 so good for teams. Replit used to be loved as a web-based coding platform, the Google Docs of coding. AI reshaped it into a vibe-coding tool, fully focusing on using agents to generate all kinds of solutions—apps, animations, 3D games, data visualization dashboards, and more—that can run on the web or on mobile devices.
When you actually start building, you get to the familiar screen with the chat and the preview screen. But since Replit is already an established code platform, there are a lot of useful extras. It has the deepest database controls on this list, letting you control your schema manually after it's generated. You can choose how to bring your app live with the most varied set of options on the list: as a reserved virtual machine, a static HTML page, or an autoscale instance for dynamic demand matching.
If you're planning to come back to Replit this year, check out the mobile app building features. Select it from the starting prompt input, write what you want to build, and let the agent work for a few minutes. Once it's ready to review, you can interact with the app on an emulator in the preview screen, and publishing it handles most of the complexity around integrating with the Apple Developer platform and Google's equivalent.
The agent is accurate most of the time, but in some instances it runs into trouble. When you point out something that wasn't implemented yet, it writes the code and asks you to test your app live—click the buttons and see what happens, for example—so the agent can see if the changes were made. At least twice it said it edited the code and that everything was working when, in fact, it wasn't.
This isn't a complete dealbreaker, just a bump in the road. Replit AI Agent still deserves its spot on this list due to the advanced tools it has, which you can inspect by opening new tabs on the preview window. Among many options, you'll see screens to handle user authentication, external integrations, and even a security scanner to check for app vulnerabilities.

Best vibe coding tool for vibing an app-based business
Rocket

Rocket pros:

Researching and building are two different tasks in the platform, making it confusing to use
Building an app is becoming trivial: you just need a prompt to get a working prototype. In a world like this, building isn't as important as knowing what to build. If you're struggling to understand which should be your next app-based business idea, Rocket is a great place to start.
After you sign up for your account, start a new task in Solve mode and ask for popular app ideas in a certain niche or industry. Rocket's dedicated agent dives into the internet to find good material you can dig into, providing better output compared to a regular chatbot response: it runs market analysis, finds main competitors, explains the gaps, and plots a product validation path.
Locked in on an idea? Good: ask for a product requirement document (PRD) to continue the process. It takes the initial research to break down the main objectives, audience, and core flows of the app. When you're happy with the output, download the document, and then create a project in Rocket, using the PRD as the source with Build mode activated.
The agent took around 20 minutes to create an ADHD body doubling mobile app based on an idea that it found on the web. I was surprised by how detailed the first shot turned out to be. Even before integrating any of the backend, the app already had its four main screens, with the core functionality working ok. It even included subscription tiers with benefit breakdowns, and they were showing for free users right after using the main flow of the app, a common strategy for B2C mobile apps.
After you release your app and get a website to promote it, you can add it to the Intelligence tab in Rocket. This lets you pick your competitors and track all announcements they make, so you can position yourself accordingly. There's not a lot to see here yet: plenty of features are labeled as coming soon, and the company list isn't very deep. Still, this makes Rocket a great contender to take you from launchpad to the stars—and keep you there.

Best open-source vibe coding tool for power users
Dyad

Vibe coding comes with a lot of asterisks. Some platforms produce reusable code that you can export; others assume you'll be hosting on their platform, making it hard to migrate. Some play well with all AI providers; others lock you in to a single vendor, so you're stuck with their drawbacks. If you're tired of dancing around the "buts" of other platforms, Dyad is freedom at last.
This freedom always comes with a setup curve, but that's not a problem for seasoned power users. You can download it for free and run it locally without paying a dime. The easiest way to get started is by linking a Google free tier Gemini API key, so you can access a free quota of tokens—keep in mind that Google keeps your prompts and results saved for training through the free key, so this option is only really good for initial prototyping, not for your moonshot business ideas.
You can link up any other API key from any of the top providers on the market, so you'll only pay for actual usage with them, not based on opaque credit system pricing. If you have beefy hardware lying around, you can even try to run an LLM locally to code for you—take a look at DeepSeek or Qwen models and use Ollama to get them going, if you're interested.
If you just like the way Dyad works but not the technicalities, you can create an account and buy a subscription instead, offering access to the core AI provider collection and the main features of a solid vibe-coding tool. The app is open-source, in active development, and being built based on community feedback. This shows in niche tools such as the Security suite that scans for vulnerabilities and fixes them one by one, with a useful Keep going button to separate each turn.

Tips for picking the best vibe coding tool
Here's my shortlist of tips for finding the right tool to use—and making the most of it:
Sign up for a bunch of the apps above.
Send the same prompt to three to five different apps (thank you, free plans!).
Wait. These apps do a lot of thinking.
See the results. Test stuff out. Try to break it.
Prompt the changes you'd like to make in every app.
Rotate to see which works better for you. When you find the one, lose your love for your savings and invest a couple dozen bucks in extra credits and see how far you can go.Â
If you build something that's ready to launch, read up on security, especially user authentication, sensitive data storage, storing API keys, rate limiting, and protecting privileged pages in your app.
Use an AI-powered IDE like Cursor for understanding and fixing your code.

What's next for vibe coding tools?
No-code was the first movement to lower the entry bar for building software, collapsing at least six months of coding into a month of visual development. Vibe coding collapsed it even further: you can get a simple prototype ready in a day and, depending on complexity and your experience, launch it at the end of the week. Speed is the name of the game.
All platforms on the market are maturing to handle more of the technical complexity around the code. This includes security scanning suites that find gaps in the code and patch them; visual integration screens with slots for protected environment variables; and a set of invisible guardrails at the agent and platform level, closing gaps that non-technical people don't even know are there.
With that said, the best stance to take as a vibe coder is to pick up some technical understanding along the way. This means studying how web services talk to one another, how to find and plug security gaps, and getting a big-picture view of what each file of your code does, even if you can't actually read what's there. Sharpening your intuition will help you launch faster, deliver software that's harder to break, and successfully troubleshoot when things get weird. Because, vibe coding or not, they inevitably will.
