Hi there!

We're looking for a product marketer who can help us communicate the automation power of Zapier to 1.5 million users (and counting). If you're excited about developing strategies that drive engagement, crafting content that inspires action, and perfecting processes for a fast-growing team, read on.

We know applying for and taking on a new a job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

Even though our job description may seem like we are looking for a candidate with a very specific skillset, the role will be tailored to the individual who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if you're passionate about collaborating with product teams, building a brand, and helping people get more out of their time.

About You

  • A well-written sentence makes you swoon. You aim to help people understand features with clear, compelling copy—not perplexing prose. You can adapt your writing skills to fit any format—from a how-to guide to interface copy.
  • Collaboration and feedback lead to better results. You work across functions—like product, design, support, and engineering— and bring people with different skillsets together to tell a better story than you could alone.
  • The audience molds the message. You embody the people you're writing for, and aim to understand their needs through research and personal experience.
  • Proactive beats reactive. You dive in and take ownership of the change you want to see.
  • Structure lets creativity shine. Flows, schedules, style guides and frameworks help you and your teammates stay organized.
  • Details matter. You recognize that a small tweak, like the copy of a button, could improve a user's experience and result in a faster path to success.
  • "Launched" doesn't mean "done". You're always looking for ways to improve the messaging and experience of a product in ways that make life easier for our customers.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a startup, so you'll get experience with a little bit of everything. That said, here are some things you'll do:

  • Build launch plans and educational materials for new Zapier features and products, like our Built-In Apps.
  • Define the messaging, strategy, and positioning for new and under-covered Zapier features.
  • Work with our product teams to create content, write UX copy, and clearly communicate how Zapier works.
  • Identify new ways to involve integration partners—such as Slack, MailChimp, and Trello—in product releases, and run projects around engaging with their users on our platform.
  • Plan and ship campaigns that help current customers get more out of Zapier.
  • Talk to Zapier customers, build a picture of why they use Zapier, and advocate for their needs with our product teams.
  • Advocate for quality content and a consistent voice across the Zapier team.

About Zapier

For the past five years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.

We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

How to Apply

We have a non-standard application process. Creativity is certainly encouraged. To jump start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out the gate. Make sure to answer each question. Have fun with them. :-)

Complete this form with the answers to the below questions.

  1. Why would your skills and past experience be a good fit for this role?
  2. Tell us about a brand that nails product marketing, and highlight an example from the company. Explain why this example was effective. Please link to or share a screenshot of the example.
  3. We want to use an onboarding email to teach brand new Zapier users about Filters, and how to use them in a Zap. Provide an original copy sample—100 words or fewer—to include in this email, along with a URL that you would direct people to.
  4. Tell us about a project that you worked on with a team of designers and engineers. Why did you pursue the project? What were steps involved, from zero to launched? What role did you play? How do you know whether or not your project was successful? Please include a link to the project, and feel free to include things like wireframes and screenshots if they help you tell the story.
  5. How did you hear about this position?
  6. Optional: Share anonymously some demographic information about yourself to help us better track trends related to the backgrounds of candidates interested in working at Zapier in order for us to build a team that represents the users at Zapier and the broader world population.

Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
