Run an AI Advisory Council on Any Decision
Get multiple expert perspectives on a strategic decision from AI personas that debate, critique, and rank options.
Overview
Big decisions deserve more than one perspective. This template connects Google Docs, Slack, and Google Sheets so your AI assistant can convene a virtual advisory council: a panel of expert personas (a ruthless CFO, a contrarian board member, a customer obsessive, an operator, plus domain-specific experts generated for your question) who independently critique your thinking, stress-test your assumptions, and surface blind spots. You get a synthesized verdict with a conviction-weighted recommendation, saved for reference and shareable with your team.
How it works
Describe the decision or question you are facing, your current thinking, the relevant context, and what is at stake. The AI assembles a council of 6-7 personas tailored to your problem domain. Each advisor independently critiques your thinking, flags the biggest underweighted risk, and proposes an alternative. Then you get a synthesis: where they agree, where they clash, and a conviction-weighted recommendation with a confidence level. The verdict is saved to a Google Doc, shared via Slack, and logged to a spreadsheet for tracking decisions over time.
Who this is for
Leaders, founders, product managers, and anyone making strategic decisions who wants their thinking pressure-tested before committing. Works for prioritization, pricing, org design, partnerships, go-to-market strategy, and any question where multiple perspectives would help.
Suggested prompt
Run the advisory council on this decision: [describe the question]. My current thinking is [what you are leaning toward]. Context: [relevant background]. Stakes: [what happens if we get this wrong]. Give me each advisor's independent take, then synthesize into a verdict with a conviction-weighted recommendation. Save the full council output to a Google Doc and share the summary in [Slack channel].
Frequently asked questions
Who are the advisors?
Four standing members (Ruthless CFO, Contrarian Board Member, Customer Obsessive, Operator) plus 2-3 dynamic experts generated specifically for your problem domain. Each has a name, backstory, and distinct opinionated lens.
Do the advisors actually disagree with each other?
Yes. They are designed to bring different lenses and will often reach different conclusions. The synthesis highlights where they agree (strong signal) and where they clash (where the real decision lives).
How long does it take?
Usually under two minutes. All advisors run in parallel, and the synthesis follows immediately.
Can I use this for small decisions?
You can, but it is designed for strategic questions where multiple perspectives genuinely help: trade-offs, bets, prioritization, and decisions with meaningful downside risk. For simple choices, it is probably overkill.
