Set Up a Daily Candidate Review Digest

Overview

Reviewing applications consistently at high volume is time-consuming and easy to deprioritize. This MCP template is a setup wizard that walks you through building a fully personalized daily review automation for any open role. You define five scoring signals with your own criteria, map them to your actual application form questions, and train the rubric on past candidates before it goes live. Once set up, the automation scores every new Ashby applicant each morning and delivers a Strong / Worth a Look / Pass digest straight to your Slack DMs.

How it works

Run the setup wizard and work through four phases. First, you provide your role details and Ashby job ID. Then you define five scoring signals with 1/2/3 rubrics entirely in your own words -- no templates, your criteria. The wizard reads your actual Ashby application form and maps each question to the right signal. Finally, you score 5-10 past candidates together to calibrate the rubric before it goes live. Once you confirm the rubric, the wizard generates your personalized daily sweep files and registers the scheduled task. Your first digest arrives the next morning, and a weekly calibration task improves the rubric over time based on your decisions.

Who this is for

Built for recruiters managing roles with high application volume who want a consistent, low-effort way to stay on top of every new application -- without manually clicking through their ATS each morning. Especially useful for roles with recurring candidate patterns where a trained rubric can reliably surface the right profiles.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the initial setup take?

About 40 minutes for the full setup -- roughly 5 minutes for role basics, 10 minutes to define your scoring signals, 2 minutes for form mapping, and 20 minutes for the training run with past candidates. The training run is what makes the automation accurate from day one rather than spending weeks calibrating in production.

Can I set this up for multiple roles?

Yes. You run the setup wizard once per role. Each role gets its own personalized rubric, scoring signals, and delivery schedule. The daily sweeps run independently -- so if you have three open reqs, you can have three separate digests.

What happens when the AI scores a candidate I disagree with?

Reply to the digest thread with your call -- advancing or passing -- and one word explaining why. A weekly calibration task picks up your replies and proposes rubric adjustments to align future scoring with your judgment. The more you reply, the more accurate the automation gets over time.

What data does this read from Ashby?

For each new candidate in Application Review, it reads the resume, application question responses, and any existing notes. It does not modify any Ashby records -- all scoring stays in your daily digest and candidate log. Ashby remains your system of record.
