How to become a Zapier Expert
We're excited you want to be a Zapier Expert! We're always on the lookout for consultants, freelancers, and agencies that are experienced and have technical expertise in Zapier and automation. If this is you, come join the Zapier Experts program!
As a Zapier Expert, you'll assist customers with:
- Designing and automating business processes/workflows
- Creating a Zapier integration or custom coding
- Training and/or implementing Zapier company-wide
- Building and/or troubleshooting a Zap
Zapier Expert program requirements
To join the Zapier Expert program, you'll need to meet several requirements. These criteria include a combination of experience, expertise, and a proven track record of working with Zapier and automation.
You'll need to have:
- Zapier proficiency. You should have a solid understanding of Zapier's capabilities, including creating and managing workflows, integrating apps, and troubleshooting common issues.
- Demonstrated expertise. A track record of successfully implementing Zapier solutions for clients or within your own organization is essential. This can be demonstrated through case studies, testimonials, or examples of previous automation projects.
- Extensive app knowledge. In-depth familiarity with the various applications and platforms Zapier integrates with is crucial. This allows you to provide comprehensive solutions and recommendations tailored to clients' specific needs.
- Communication and client management skills. Strong communication, project management, and client relationship skills are important for effectively understanding client requirements, advising on automation possibilities, and delivering satisfactory solutions.
- Professionalism and ethical conduct. Maintaining professionalism and adhering to ethical standards is expected as a Zapier Expert. This entails respecting client confidentiality, conducting business with integrity, and providing services in a timely and professional manner.
- Paid Zapier account. It is required to maintain a paid Zapier account throughout your tenure as a Zapier Expert. This ensures you have access to the necessary features and tools to provide top-quality automation services.
- Application process. To join the program, you'll typically need to submit your credentials, showcase relevant experience, and provide references or examples of previous work through the official Zapier website.
To become a Zapier Expert, you must be an agency or consultant with an active business and website assisting clients with their automation and Zapier needs, have and maintain a paid Zapier account, and pass the two-part Zapier certification.

Zapier Expert tiers, requirements and benefits
The Zapier Expert program has three tiers, with the Certified Zapier Expert (L1) serving as the introductory level. Each tier offers specific requirements and benefits aimed at enhancing value as you progress in your expertise and contributions.
The key metric for success in the program is Managed Client MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue), reflecting the total subscription payments from the users under your management. Progressing to higher tiers depends on growing your Managed Client MRR.

Zapier Expert Application Process
- Submit a Zapier Expert program application form.
- Your applications will be reviewed within 7-21 business days.
- If approved, applicants will get an email invitation to have an interview and complete the two-part Zapier Expert Certification. The certification consists of an exam and Zap challenges. Participants have 30 days to complete each certification section. You'll then receive the results within 7-21 business days.
