Hi there!

We're looking for a technically minded Product Manager to join the product team at Zapier. We have over 750 integration partners on our platform and are looking to increase the Zapier presence in their ecosystem. Interested in helping design and build a product that helps the world automate their work so they can get back to living? Then read on…

We know applying for and taking on a new job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

About You

You understand what makes partnerships successful. On a daily basis, you'll interact with partners on mutually beneficial projects that allow them to expand their product with Zapier while allowing us to tap into their customer base. Alongside a small team, you'll set and execute on a roadmap of partnership projects that impact key metrics like revenue, signups, and more.

You are technical. You'll be working alongside engineers and designers. While you may or may not know how to code, you have technical skills to support yourself and team. Your skillset probably includes: writing SQL to do analysis, prototyping experiments using off the shelf tools and Zapier, using self-serve data exploration and conversion rate tools to find opportunities and measure impact.

You are a skilled written communicator. Zapier is a 100% remote team and written communication is critical. You'll use summaries and reports to communicate findings, objectives and plans to the team. You'll also help manage the day-to-day cadence of projects in our team's Slack channels.

You love working with developers. Product Managers at Zapier are two-sided. One side is figuring out what we should build next. The other side is making it happen.

You are data driven. You're comfortable with SQL queries. You understand statistical significance. You're able to use that data to improve the experience for the user and meet the goals of the business.

You love doing things efficiently. At Zapier, the work you do will have a disproportionate impact on the business. We believe in systems and processes that let us scale our impact to be larger than ourselves.

You love to set your own course with our shared set of goals. At Zapier, you'll have a weekly project meetings and then you go make things happen. You default to action.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a startup, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. Here are some things you'll get a taste of:

  • Work with our business development team to prioritize ideas and experiments that drive outcomes coming from our partners
  • Set and prioritize a roadmap of partnership experiments alongside design, engineering, marketing, and data science
  • Help conduct A/B tests and other experiments
  • Measure and report results of your work (creating dashboards, writing SQL, etc.)
  • Maintain a high level of autonomy
  • Following in line with Zapier's All Hand Support philosophy you'll help customers via support to ensure they have the best experience possible
  • Experiment: this is a startup so everything can change

About Zapier

For the past five years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.

We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

How to Apply

We have a non-standard application process. Creativity is certainly encouraged. To jump start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out the gate. Make sure to answer each question. Have fun with them. :-)

Complete this form with answers to the questions below.

  1. Why will you be a good fit for this role?
  2. Share links to sites that showcase your professional works (GitHub, LinkedIn, Twitter, Personal Site, etc). We want to see at least one live-on-the-internet product you've built.
  3. Pick one specific project you've helped ship in the past. Explain your process from 0 to shipped. Make sure to include any sketches, wireframes, mocks, screenshots, and narrative to effectively describe your process deciding what to build through actually building (or helping build) it. What technology did you use? What metrics did you pick to determine whether the project was successful?
  4. Share an example of a project where you had to balance the goals of two organizations in a partnership in the past. How did you make sure it's a win/win/win situation for both companies and mutual users?
  5. Optional: Share anonymously some demographic information about yourself to help us better track trends related to the backgrounds of candidates interested in working at Zapier in order for us to build a team that represents the users at Zapier and the broader world population.

Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
