Hi there!

We're looking for a Growth Product Manager to join the product team at Zapier. Interested in helping grow a product that helps the world automate their work so they can get back to living? Then read on…

We know applying for and taking on a new job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

Even though our job description may seem like we are looking for a specific candidate, the role inevitably ends up tailored to the individual who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if:

You're motivated by moving fast and improving business goals (like signups, revenue) and are comfortable setting and executing a roadmap alongside engineers and designers.

About You

You move fast with a growth mindset. The core part of this role is growing Zapier. Alongside a small team, you'll set and execute on a roadmap of growth projects that impact key metrics like revenue, signups, churn, and more. You know that quick experimentation are pre-requisites for success in a role like this.

You are technical. You'll be working alongside engineers and designers. While you may or may not know how to code, you have technical skills to support yourself and team. Your skillset probably includes: writing SQL to do analysis, prototyping experiments using off the shelf tools and Zapier, using self-serve data exploration and conversion rate tools to find opportunities and measure impact.

You are a skilled written communicator. Zapier is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication. You'll use summaries and reports to communicate findings, objectives and plans to the team. You'll also help manage the day-to-day cadence of projects in our team's Slack channels.

You're willing to do and learn anything. You'll be primarily working on small fluid project teams with designers, engineers, marketers, and data scientists. You don't need to be an expert in those things you but you should have a basic grasp of their roles and what they bring to the table. You'll act as the glue to fill in any skill gaps.

You love doing things efficiently. At Zapier, the work you do will have a disproportionate impact on the business. We believe in systems and processes that let us scale our impact to be larger than ourselves.

You love to set your own course with our shared set of goals. At Zapier, you'll have a weekly project meetings and then you go make things happen. You default to action.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a startup, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. Here are some things you'll get a taste of:

  • Set and prioritize a roadmap of growth experiments with your team
  • Measure and report results of your work (creating dashboards, writing SQL, etc.)
  • Execute on a weekly cadence with designers and engineers
  • Balance UX with growth opportunities
  • Ship to hundreds of thousands of active users
  • Maintain a high level of autonomy
  • Give back to the community via open source and blog posts
  • Help customers via support to ensure they have the best experience possible
  • Experiment: particularly important for growth, you'll have the opportunity to wear many hats

About Zapier

For the past five years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.

We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

How to Apply

We have a non-standard application process. Creativity is certainly encouraged. To jump start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out the gate. Make sure to answer each question. Have fun with them. :-)

Complete this form with answers to the questions below.

  1. Why will you be a good fit for this role?
  2. Share links to sites that showcase your professional works (GitHub, LinkedIn, Twitter, Personal Site, etc). We want to see at least one live-on-the-internet product you've built.
  3. Briefly detail two growth projects you've worked on that represent your best work. Share your role and overall results for each.
  4. When working on growth projects, what metrics do you like to pay attention to and why?
  5. How have you balanced growth with user experience in past projects?
  6. The goal of these pages is to convert signups. Create a couple wireframe redesigns of that page that you'd like to A/B test to see if they increase signups. Explain why you think each version might work.
  7. Optional: Share anonymously some demographic information about yourself to help us better track trends related to the backgrounds of candidates interested in working at Zapier in order for us to build a team that represents the users at Zapier and the broader world population.

Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
