To help share a bit more about life at Zapier here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

About You

You have excellent communication skills. You know how to translate understandings gained from data analysis into easily understood concepts when collaborating across the organization. You can empathize with less statistically conversant teammates and also realize the valuable qualitative and observational insights those teammates bring to solving problems.

You wear many hats. You are constantly improving your people management skills. You have sufficient statistical and engineering knowledge and experience to build rapport with the data team. On a regular basis you can expect to be holding one on ones with your team, running a weekly analytics meeting, coordinating and reviewing analysis, and helping prioritize current data needs across the company.

You have experience hiring and managing data scientists, engineers, and analysts. This isn't your first rodeo. You may not have hired or managed hundreds of people before, but you have hired, trained and managed at least one data scientist or analyst before.

You can keep track of, prioritize and marshal multiple projects. We're a small team, and there's no shortage of things you could be doing in a day. You’re able to compose complementary projects to save time and hit strategic goals that otherwise couldn’t be achieved with a single project. You're comfortable communicating with your team, and you work hard to teardown roadblocks for your team.

You take pride in empowering teammates. The data team enables everyone at Zapier to make better decisions and be better at their jobs. An important part of this role is leveling up the ability of everyone on team Zapier to be able to perform their own analysis quickly and accurately.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a startup, so you'll likely get your hands dirty in a little bit of everything. That said, here are some things you'll likely work on:

  • Develop effective and enjoyable ways to communicate, monitor, and marshal your team through weekly one one ones and team meetings
  • Keep the leadership team informed on your team’s progress in ways that are easy and enjoyable to receive.
  • Build rapport with each member of the data team and work hard to support them in leveling up their skills
  • Collaborate across functions to help set roadmaps that will achieve business goals through data analysis
  • Ensure that feedback regarding analysis and decisions being made based on those analysis across the organization is provided quickly and effectively
  • Actively recruit, onboard and train new data scientists, engineers, and analysts at Zapier
  • Help customers via support to ensure they have the best experience possible

About Zapier

For the past five years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by letting anyone connect the web applications they already use without any code.

  • We believe that there are jobs that a computer is best at doing, and jobs that a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses everywhere to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.
  • We believe that with the right tools, you can have 10X the impact with less work.
  • We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy, less management, and more progress.
  • We believe that customer service is what makes great products. Everyone does support at Zapier because when everyone does support, everyone puts the customer at the center of their role.
  • We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.
  • We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.
