The remote Zapier team gathers in Miramar Beach, Florida for a week-long company retreat

Hi there!

We're looking for our first full-time writer to help us grow the Zapier Blog from 500,000 to 5 million monthly readers through long-form, in-depth content.

About You

Writing is a pleasure. Whether for work or personal matters, you relish the time you spend writing and wish you had more of it.

Promotion and publishing go hand-in-hand. After a piece goes live, you have a plan to promote it through influencer outreach, news pitches, online communities, partners and more.

The Oxford comma is a must. Or it isn't. Either way, you have an opinion on the matter since you're a stickler for strong grammar, style, and punctuation in writing.

Your role models are great storytellers. You have a high regard for telling and hearing stories, and weave them into your work whenever possible.

No draft is sacred. You throw out rough drafts daily, rewrite introductions until they don't resemble their former selves, and obsessively check for unnecessary words.

Reading informs your writing. You know that the only way to improve your craft is to immerse yourself in it, and you constantly seek out new sources of inspiration.

Technology is it. You're excited to try new tools that could make you and your teammates more efficient, and you're eager to contribute to building a modern productivity app.

Organization is essential. Deadlines, editorial schedules, editing workflows—these items are music to your ears.

Curiosity is a constant. It's not enough to know whether a new business practice works—you want to find out exactly how and why.

Learning brings satisfaction. When you approach a foreign subject, you don't let your lack of knowledge stand in the way—even if it requires dozens of Google searches.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a startup, so you'll get experience with a little bit of everything. That said, here are some things you'll do:

  • Write two long-form pieces per week
  • Brainstorm topics that will capture the attention of our readers
  • Promote new published posts on the Zapier Blog
  • Manage Zapier Blog freelancers and guest authors
  • Help edit the writing of other pieces that will be appear across the Zapier site
  • Find ways to surface related Zapier content across the Zapier site
  • Try new approaches to grow our blog email newsletter subscribers

About Zapier

Members of the Zapier team in Orange Beach, Alabama for Zapier Retreat IV

For the past four years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.

We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

How to Apply

  1. Send an email to marketingjobs@zapier.com with the subject line Lead Writer
  2. Tell us about yourself
  3. Tell us how you heard about this position
  4. Share your best long-form sample you've written (we regularly publish guides that are 3,000-plus words, so the longer, the better). You can share more than one but please note which is the one you're proud of most.
  5. We recommend reviewing past posts on the Zapier Blog along with our "Ultimate Guides" in our Learning Center to get a sense of what our readers like.
  6. In a few sentences, tell us what you would be most interested in improving on the Zapier Blog.

Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
