Sr. Learning and Development Specialist

We’re looking for a Learning and Development Specialist to help our employees advance their skills and knowledge while cultivating a strong learning culture at Zapier. In this role, you will explore our greatest organizational challenges and needs, then build learning experiences that drive strong performance outcomes. Your day-to-day work will include designing and delivering self-paced courses, live workshops, curated resources, team activities, skill practice sessions, and more. You should be someone who is well-versed in learning theory, comfortable with the latest technology trends, and willing to experiment with new learning methods in a fully remote company. About You

You’re an experienced learning expert. You have 5+ years of experience in learning and development, curriculum design, or training facilitation. You have strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and assessment methodology.

You design effective learning programs. You know how to identify learning needs, implement an engaging solution, and evaluate the results. You’re comfortable building learning experiences and resources in a variety of formats -- e-learning, live workshops, multimedia, team activities, mentorship programs, job aids, etc.

You’re a strong facilitator. You know how to communicate in a clear, concise manner and are able to keep your audience engaged and focused. You’re skilled at creating an inclusive and comfortable environment so everyone can participate.

You find creative solutions. You have a track record of creating innovative, common-sense learning opportunities. You stay up-to-date on employee development trends and tools and know when to take risks, try something new, and iterate on inventive solutions.

You know technology. You know how to leverage technology tools to communicate and get work done faster and better. You don’t shy away from picking up new tech skills and applying them to your work. You understand technical teams, startups and their culture.

You excel at writing. You have exceptional written communication skills and have built a wide variety of engaging textual content. You know how to make complex topics seem simple via writing.

You're data-driven. You have an analytical mindset and you know that you have to use data, metrics, and analytics to measure success and make better decisions. You review and analyze ongoing feedback to continually improve on the learning experiences at Zapier.

You know how to connect. You can work with business leaders to understand their needs and collaborate with subject matter experts to build out content. You know how to draw out knowledge and stories from others that you can share with the company.

You get results quickly. You excel in execution, establishing priorities and meeting swift deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. You are organized and self-sufficient in a remote work environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate individual and organizational development and training needs.
  • Design and deliver learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training, live workshops, etc.).
  • Develop classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids, and guides.
  • Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.
  • Partner with other teams to develop discipline-specific learning content.
  • Encourage employee learning through recognition programs, learning newsletters, internal marketing, and more.
  • Research and recommend modern educational methods and tools that will work in an all-remote work environment.
  • Get certified in Birkman (https://birkman.com) and help interpret reports for employees and teams.
  • You may have the opportunity to directly coach or mentor other employees.

Location: Remote

Our distributed environment lets us work with the best people. You don't have to be located in the USA either. Some team members live in the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Nigeria, Taiwan, Guatemala, New Zealand, Australia, and more! You just need the skills and drive to succeed in this role and the ability to work from anywhere.

How to Apply

We have a non-standard application process. To jump-start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out of the gate. Please make sure to answer each question. After you apply, you are going to hear back from us, even if we don't seem like a good fit. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to make sure you never go more than seven days without hearing from us.
