Connect your app accounts to Zapier

tutorial
Last updated:

In order for Zapier to automatically push data from one of your apps to another, you must first connect those apps to Zapier. This will give Zapier secure access to read and/or write data to those apps.

There are two ways you can connect your app accounts to Zapier: from the My Apps page, or from the Zap editor. You can also connect multiple accounts with a single app to Zapier.

Note

Zapier uses bank-level encryption to protect the credentials that you use to access your app accounts. Zapier only takes actions in your app accounts that are required to run the Zaps you create.

1. Connect app accounts from the My Apps page

  • Navigate to My Apps.
  • Click the Connect a new account… dropdown menu, then search for and select the app you want to connect.
  • A new browser tab or window will open. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your app account.

You’ll now be able to build Zaps using the newly-connected app.

Note

If nothing happens when you select an app, try disabling your browser’s pop-up blocker.

2. Connect app accounts from the Zap editor

You can also connect new apps when you build Zaps in the editor. After you select an app and an event in a trigger or action step, you’ll be prompted to connect your app account. Click Connect an Account. A new browser tab or window will open, and you can follow the on-screen instructions to connect your app account.

3. Connect multiple accounts with a single app to Zapier

You can connect multiple accounts with a single app to Zapier (with rare exceptions). For example, if you have two Gmail accounts you can connect and use both of them in Zapier.

In your browser, open a new incognito or private window and connect your app acccount. If you’re currently logged in using an app account that you’ve already connected to Zapier, using a private or incognito window will prevent Zapier from using that specific account.

  • Log in to Zapier.
  • Navigate to My Apps.
  • Click the Connect a new account… dropdown menu and search for and select the app you want to connect.
  • A new browser tab or window will open. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your app account.
  • On the My Apps page, click the pencil icon next to your new app account to rename it so you can differentiate it from other app accounts.
Note

If you want to connect another app account after taking these steps, close all open incognito or private windows and start with a new incognito or private window. Incognito and private windows keep your session information, so you must use a new incognito or private window each time you want to connect another app account.

Once you’ve connected an app to Zapier, you can manage the connection—including testing, disconnecting, or reconnecting— on the My Apps page.
