In Qual 32 we were up against knight crawler and chicken bot pie and we were with toolcats and mustang. We won auto but early in the match we took a hard hit and our front hopper panel came off, forcing Xiaohan, much to his delight to play defense while our alliance members scored. We adapted well and won, having 4 ranking points in the way. With this win we have moved up to rank #2 in the standings. Our next and last qual match of the day is match 39, where we will face our old alliance members, patriotics. These past few days in Houston have been such an experience for the team. Since qualifying week 1, we had been patiently awaiting the day we could prove ourselves to the world. This year NoMythic set records and crushed goals like never before. The team made history and paved the path for the future years, proving what is possible. We hit the ground running at kickoff (even before kickoff actually) creating a series of victories from there. Victories in every practice attended, decision made, relationship formed, lesson learned, and match won. The journey to any competition is a long and hard one where every single person is needed for success. Said success is not dictated by the results of your effort, but the amount of effort contributed. What makes this team so strong is the fact that all students, mentors, parents, sponsors, alumni, etc posses the strength required to look a challenge in the eye and take it on with everything they have got. When a group of people demonstrate that level of effort, it’s never possible to fail. Blue alliance wins 724 to 294, a new NoMythic record!! Game play: The match went even better than expected with Patriotics and Stateside following the plan perfectly. We set up a new auto that was very successful and all 3 alliance members were able to run theirs thanks to it. We scored about 130 there and went out to the neutral zone to pick up and pass. There was some defense thrown on Stateside but there was clear a clear backup plan that we pivoted to when that happened. Overall, this match was a huge highlight and a pleasure to watch. Game play: Auto was very very very successful taking two big bites of fuel an emptying around 90 into the hub. We had the first shift and managed it well by picking up and scoring in a timely manner. There were some big passers and scorers on the other alliance that pushed us all match… but we stayed with them. In the second scoring period we started slipping was when there was a miscommunication about a pick that was set up in order to get around defense. We barely got any fuel up that cycle and we ended up falling behind. Other notes: Everything was looking on track for that match, now it’s just a matter of going back out there and trying again. For a lot of the match, the drivers reported brownouts, this could have been from incorrect battery usage or power drain imbalances mid-match. Paired with two teams high up on the leaderboard, the alliance demonstrated exceptional scoring and game play abilities. Game play: In auto we had a collision in the neutral zone with an alliance member …. But it was, thankfully, not as much of an issue (for programming) but a miscommunication. Tele-op we demonstrated our best passing all season. Throwing fuel back to our human player station we were able to starve the other alliance and store fuel for endgame. All in all it was a very successful way to start the day. Other notes: Today is an important one and the team is determined to perform.
