A note from Wade Foster, Zapier CEO: We've struggled to make user testing and research a habit at Zapier. When we dedicated time to it though, we learned a ton. So we started to look for someone who could help us do it with more rigor. After my first conversation with Eileen Ruberto, I was hoping we'd get the chance to work with her. She brings years of user research experience to Zapier and tons of empathy to match. I'm excited to have Eileen officially join the Zapier team.

Hi there! I’m Eileen Ruberto, and I recently joined as Zapier’s first User Experience Researcher (UX Researcher, for short).

It’s my job to understand the people who use Zapier and to share what I’ve learned with our team so we can make our product even more valuable for our customers. Internet Librarian

When I decided to go back to school for library science, I had every intention of becoming a librarian. A few months into my program I was introduced to the concept of information architecture, and something clicked. I’ve always been fascinated with the web as a platform for connecting people and knowledge, so I loved the idea of using my library skills to make sense of the web. I started my career as an information architect at the University at Buffalo and have spent the last few years doing UX design for tech companies based in Buffalo, New York, where I live.

Discovering Zapier

I first signed up for Zapier while working on a user research project. Using Zapier, I was able to automatically transfer several hundred user interview quotes and insights from a Google spreadsheet into Trello, where I could more easily organize them into meaningful groupings. A few weeks later, I saw they were hiring a UX Researcher, and knew I had to apply.

At Zapier

Getting to know users has always been part of my job, and I’m excited to be focusing on it full-time at Zapier. I’ll be helping to establish a regular cadence to our UX research efforts and working with the team to prioritize new features. It feels great to work for a company that genuinely cares about making its customers’ lives easier.

More About Me

When I’m not staying curious about Zapier’s customers, most of my free time revolves around the arts: supporting my local art scene, watching films, drawing, and taking photos.

I also love exploring new places. Now that I work remotely for Zapier, I’m looking forward to traveling more often (and escaping to warmer locales during Buffalo’s unrelenting winters).
