A note from Wade Foster, Zapier CEO: We wanted to introduce another new face to Zapier world today. A few weeks ago Brandon Galbraith joined Zapier as a systems engineer. Brandon is one of those people who we were excited to work with pretty much right away. In fact, the very first comment was, "Big thumbs up from me." I think that says it all.

"Interested in building the infrastructure that helps connect the world's business data?"

That question, part of the job description for my role at Zapier, led me from being a curious candidate to part of the Zapier team.

Hello! I'm Brandon, Zapier's newest addition to their infrastructure operations team.

Before Zapier

My career has been a mix of startups, large corporations, and non-profits. I've designed and built complex hosting environments, managed data centers, and worked on datataking for the Large Hadron Collider. As my career has developed, I always come back to infrastructure; it's my passion, and I love any scenario where I can solve problems with it.

One day, I came across a blog post on Zapier's site about their opening for a DevOps Engineer. Excited, I applied immediately.

At Zapier, I have the opportunity to use my knowledge and expertise crafting infrastructure alongside an amazing team of people to help build an incredible product. At Zapier, everyone wears multiple hats; I get to do what I'm best while getting the opportunity to help others where needed. Rarely, do I throw around the words "Dream Job" (having no commute doesn't hurt either), but it seems that I've found it.

What is infrastructure and DevOps? In short, infrastructure is the servers where Zapier runs. DevOps is making our developer's lives easier with that infrastructure.

Beyond Work

When I've hung up my ops hat for the day, I spend my time reading, searching out a new travel destination, or indulging in amateur making (3D printing and rapid prototyping).

I'm looking forward to seeing Zapier grow, and I'm honored to be along for the ride.
