Two-Factor Authentication: How to Add Stronger Security to Your Zapier Account

Many of you asked us for this second layer of protection, and we're excited to give you stronger security and more peace of mind.

How Do I Enable Two-Factor Authentication?

If stronger security for your Zapier account sounds like a no-brainer, check out our documentation on how to enable two-factor authentication or go to your account settings and follow the instructions.

Ok, But What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (also called 2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Zapier account. It requires anyone who tries to log into your account to have two things: an access code generated by your mobile device, and your password.

This means that even if someone stole your password, they wouldn't be able to access your account without your mobile device.

Enabling two-factor authentication isn't required to use Zapier—but we highly recommend it. Being proactive about your account's security is the best way to keep the bad guys out.

Now, I hear you saying, “I use a long and random password for my account.” And that's good! But passwords only represent a single piece of information someone needs in order to access your account. If someone gets their hands on your password, they've got the keys to your automation kingdom.

With two-factor authentication enabled, you make it almost impossible for anyone to access your account without your permission. And you shouldn't stop at your Zapier account—we strongly encourage using two-factor authentication with all of your other apps and services, too.

To get started, go to your Zapier account settings to see the new security settings and click the Enable button.
