How to Get Started with MoonClerk on Zapier

The first thing you’ll need to do to get started in hooking up MoonClerk with Zapier and the hundreds of services we work with is adding your MoonClerk Account to Zapier. When the time is right, we’ll ask you to add your Account:

Next, we will ask you to give your new Account a name or label, which is just a handy name for you to recognize within Zapier. It doesn’t matter what you name it, but it does matter that you paste your API Key into the API Key field:

In the link above, you should see a link to the MoonClerk instructions that will show you how to generate or regenerate your API Key. The area in the MoonClerk dashboard where you will generate your API Key looks like this:

Just copy the API Key from MoonClerk and paste it into the field on the popup on Zapier. Click the “Continue” button:

As the final step, Zapier will automatically test your API Key to make sure it is good and you’ll be allowed to continue setting up your Zap:

If you typed in your API Key incorrectly, you’ll see an error that should begin with “authorization failed” and we’ll show you the error itself:

Common Problems with MoonClerk

Custom Fields Not Showing Up#

If the custom fields you have added to your MoonClerk payment forms through the Additional Information section aren’t showing up when you try to insert MoonClerk fields into Action app you’re trying to connect to, you need to first choose a specific MoonClerk payment form (in the "set up options" section of the trigger step) when you create the Zap. Because custom fields can be unique to each MoonClerk payment form, we can’t display all custom fields across all payment forms.

Failed payments trigger the New Payment trigger#

This is the expected behavior of the trigger, but if you would like the Zap to only trigger off successful payments, you'll want to add a filter step to your Zap to only run the Zap if status "exactly matches" successful.
