To get started with Klipfolio on Zapier, first connect your Klipfolio account to use with your Zap.

You can generate an API key from the Klipfolio app through either the My Profile page or from Users if you are an administrator (you must have the user.manage permission). By default, both the Admin and Editor roles have permission to generate keys.

*To generate a key: 1. Sign into your Klipfolio account. 2. Click on Account (top right). 3. Select My Profile. 4. Click on Edit (next to General Information) to open the Edit My Profile screen. 5. Click Generate New API Key. The app automatically generates a new key.

Paste your key back into your Zapier account and then “Continue”. If your API was entered correctly, your Klipfolio account will now be successfully connected.

Common Problems with Klipfolio on Zapier

Why is my data not displaying properly in Klipfolio?#

If you send data in a format that is not the same as the one used by our data source in Klipfolio, it will not display correctly. For example, if you send JSON data into a CSV file, the data source will have problems displaying the data. Ensure the data you are sending matches the format of your data source.

Why can’t I add any more data to my data source?#

Klipfolio supports adding up to 2 MB of data to a data source via Zapier. Check the size of the data source in Klipfolio to ensure it is under the limit.

Why was an extra column added to my data source?#

When updating or adding data in a CSV data source, if one of the data points contains a comma then that data point will be interpreted as two columns. When setting up your Zap, enclose the data point in quotation marks so that it will always be treated as one column.

Should I refresh my data source?#

This applies to Zaps that add data to a data source. When a data source refreshes, all existing data in the data source is replaced with new data, which means that any data appended to the data source will be erased by a refresh. This applies to web accessible JSON or CSV data sources. For these data sources, you must set the Queue for Refresh setting to Never. To do this, go to Data Sources > Select your data source > Click General > Click Edit > Select Never from the dropdown for Queue for Refresh.

Data sources created from uploaded files, such as a CSV file, do not refresh.

Why is my Zap failing?#

Check the Zap task history. The history will indicate the type of error that the Zap encountered. If there was an error returned by the Klipfolio action then the error code and description will be listed in the task history.

How do I create a data source?#

A data source is file that is uploaded to Klipfolio from your computer, FTP or SFTP, DropBox, Box, Google drive or as an email attachment. Klipfolio supports different data types such as:

  • Excel
  • CSV
  • JSON
  • Google Sheet
  • XML
