What Desk Triggers and Actions are Supported?

Supported Triggers#

  • New Customer - Triggers when you add a new customer.
  • New Case - Triggers when you add a new case.
  • New Group - Triggers when you add a new group.
  • New User - Triggers when you add a new user.

Supported Actions#

  • Create Customer - Create a new customer.
  • Create Case - Create a new case. Inside Desk, it will be treated like an "Email Case".

How to Get Started with Desk

To get started with Desk, first click to connect a Desk account in your zap.

Click to add an account

This brings up a form where you fill in your account details. First you will name the account. It can be named anything you want; it is only used to help you identify the account inside of Zapier. Next, provide the URL you use to login to Desk.

You should then get a pop-up window from Desk asking you to log-in.

Log in to authorize your Desk account

After logging in, you will be prompted with a window to grant Zapier access. Note: Don't forget to check the box!

After allowing Zapier access, you'll get sent back to your zap where you now have your Desk account connected!

Common Problems with Desk

Access Forbidden#

There are a couple reasons why you might receive this kind of error in your Zap. One reason is that your Desk account may not have the full admin permissions necessary to do the action you specified. Another is that some accounts have restrictions on where requests can come from (IP address restrictions).

In either of these cases, you will need to get in touch with an administrator of your Desk account. An admin will be able to remedy the situation by either adding the higher permissions or removing the IP address restrictions.

SSL Error#

If you are hosting your own instance of Desk, you may encounter an error like the following:

This error typically means your SSL certificate is not from a CA Zapier recognizes. To get around this issue, you will have to follow the instructions on how to disable the SSL check for your account.
