# Embed Zapier MCP

Give your product's AI agent access to your users' apps by embedding Zapier MCP. Your users authenticate their own apps (Slack, Gmail, Sheets, etc.) through Zapier, and your agent gets MCP tool access to act on their behalf — no per-app integration work on your side.

## When to use this skill

- You're building an AI product and want your users' agents to interact with their business apps
- You want to offer thousands of integrations without building each one
- You need user-scoped authentication where each user connects their own accounts

## Prerequisites

- Active Zapier account with admin access
- An MCP-compatible AI client in your product

## Setup

### 1. Configure embed settings

Access the embed configuration dashboard. Set your company name (shown to users in their MCP server list).

**Domain allowlisting** — required for security:
- Specific domains: `www.yourapp.com`, `app.yourapp.com`
- Wildcards: `*.yourapp.com`
- `localhost` is not supported — use ngrok for local dev

### 2. Generate an embed secret

Create an authentication secret in the dashboard. This is a bearer token your server uses to authenticate embed requests.

```
Authorization: Bearer <your-embed-secret>
```

Treat this like a password. Rotate immediately if compromised.

### 3. Integrate the embed flow

When a user triggers the embed, your app receives an `mcp-server-url` event containing that user's unique MCP server URL. Store it in your user record.

### 4. Connect your agent to the user's MCP server

Use the stored URL and your embed secret to establish an MCP connection:

```typescript
const mcpConfig = {
  url: user.mcpServerUrl,
  headers: {
    Authorization: `Bearer ${ZAPIER_EMBED_SECRET}`
  }
};
```

### 5. Execute tools

List available tools and invoke them. Each user sees only the apps and actions they've configured.

## User flow

1. User clicks "Connect apps" in your product
2. Zapier embed UI opens — user authenticates their apps and selects actions
3. Your app receives the `mcp-server-url` event
4. Your agent connects via MCP and can now act on the user's behalf
